    Question:
1/10/12 - my pp3516avx chain keeps coming off..i can see the adjusting wheel loosening while holding the chain saw before cutting...sometimes i can get 3 to 4 cuts before the chain comes off...ive tried several times to tighten it but unless i actually watch the adjusting wheel it goes off the bar. do i need to have this service or is it defective? only had it for about 2 1/2 months...not real happy at this point...solutions??? thanks, paul lineen

     Hi Paul,

    Thanks for contacting Husqvarna

If the tension adjustment thumb wheel is turning just from vibration of the unit running, the setting of chain tension has not been done correctly.

Please review the tensioning sequence in your Manual, especially the part about raising the bar tip as far as possible when setting tension, then securing with the clamp knob/nut.

If the chain is tensioned too tightly, and you must back off the tension, do not just back off the tension knob and leave it at that position; back off further than needed (will give excess slack) and readjust again in the tightening direction. The adjusting pin must remain in contact with the front edge of the hole in the bar for best security; if you just back off the tension and the pin loses contact in that bar hole, stability of the bar and tensioning system is compromised.

If proper tensioning technique per the Manual does not correct the condition, have your local Service Dealer check the unit for a possible fault, or you can contact our customer service center and they can send you the parts to update the machine to the standard tensioning system with the bar nuts.
