    Question:
I have a DRT 900E, just over a year old. Was just in the garden tilling using the reverse till gear. I came to a stop to move something from my path. When I came back to the tiller and re-engaged, it seemed to be moving forward way too easy. I assumed it had somehow switched gears. However when I tried to switch gears I discovered that the shift lever is now free floating and I cannot shift at all. The last gear I left it in was the reverse tilling gear, yet it is acting like it is just in plain forward gear as the tines are not engaging either.
Please suggest a course of action. This is HIGHLY disappointing. I got rid of my old tiller, which still worked, paid top dollar for what I thought was a top of the line tiller, and here I am just over a year after purchasing and expecting to find out I have a multi-hundred dollar bill coming up.

Check the shift connection at the transmission. If I remember correctly it is held in place by a hair pin clip that may have worked its way out. It one of the reason they started using those pain in the neck bow tie clips on mowers.

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately that pin is connected. The entire shift selector that goes into the gearbox moves without resistance at all. I assume something sheared off. To make things even worse today I finally got it out of the garden and into the garage and noticed it is dumping fuel out of the choke box. It basically dumped everything out except for the very little bit that's left in the gas tank. Seems like this is one jacked-up tiller. I assume my course of action is to take it to a service center, correct?

Probably best to have it serviced. I suspect the roll pin on the shifter lever going into the transmission may sheared but it leaking from the carburetor either the float valve is stuck open or the needle seat is bad.

Where does the shift connection attach to the transmission?
