When engine died it was on a slope which I have cut a number of times before without a problem. I thought I read somewhere in Kohler literature that excessive time on a steep slope may cause engine to shut down. If this is true - what triggers this shutdown and is there a reset that perhaps I am missing? This design with a Kohler engine has no fuel filter no shutoff valve, no oil drain plug, fyi. Thanks
The cure could be a quick fix. It sounds like the machine is starving for fuel, when it starts to sputter likes its going to stall remove the gas cap and listen for a rush of air. If you hear this then the cap is not venting correctly and my need to be replaced. As far as cutting on a slope and Kohler engines having a problem with that I have no clue. This would be the first I have heard of it.
I trust this was helpful.
Thanks Greg for your comment. I have tried this but does not make a difference. Sometimes if I am lucky I can get it start when cold and run for up to two minutes and then it dies again. I guess its time to take it to the professionals. My 28 year old back up doesn't begin to have these problems.
