    Question:
Regarding a Rancher 55: No spark. With the kill switch wire disconnected I measured the resistance between the kill switch lug and the body of the saw. It measured 1.5 Ohms. Seems very low to me. Measured the resistance between the spark plug and the same lug. It measures about 6K Ohms. Regarding the magneto gap: it measures .012 on one lobe of the fly wheel and about 3/32" on the other lobe - ??? The fly wheel is not out of round. It is not loose in any way. I removed the nut and found that the shaft is equally spaced in the flywheel hole. I think this is a defective saw.
    Details:

The spark plug is not an issue.  The carburetor is okay too.  Fuel is fresh.

If your not getting any spark with the kill disconnect and you have zero ohms between the coil legs and the cylinder then you have most likely a failed coil.
