    Question:
I have a 350 chainsaw, serial #071903575. The muffler fell off repeatedly. When I took it to a recommended dealer, they told me there was a "fix" for the problem - replacing the muffler w/a new model. The shop says they can't get any confirmation from Husqvarna that they will pay for any of the repair, although it was obviously a design flaw. What can I do?

Thank you for contacting the AnswerARMY.

It is upsetting that you have had this failure.

We do not believe the reason for the exhaust coming off is a defect, as the HUGE majority  that use this exhaust never exhibit this problem, however we did recognize there was a need for an updated exhaust system and it has a third mounting point. Normal warranty applies and your dealer will need to contact Husqvarna technical support to discuss the failure. We have been very generous in allowing warranty and goodwill consideration if certain conditions are met such as homeowner use, original purchaser with original dated sales receipt. If sales receipt is not available by the consumer there is no warranty or goodwill consideration

Gather your receipt and ask your dealer to contact Husqvarna technical support.

this is an old thread, but scott's brush off really ticked me

hey scott, don't know where you live or what sites you check out, but the muffler falling of the 350 is probably the MOST REPORTED PROBLEM for this model.  It happens to me, too.  and it can be dangerous, for instance, if the muffler falls off while sawing (which is when it happens, of course) and the thin metal plate hits the chain, that thing can be flung and high speed in almost any direction.  Are you an official husky rep, b/c if you are, you are simply burying your head int he sand if you say that this is not a design defect.  The VAST MAJORITY  of GM drivers didn't have fatal flaws in their cars either, but that didn't mean there wasn't a design defect.  Check around and you'll see lots af folks complaining about it.

Jim, first thing to do is to make sure you have those bolts fastened down TIGHT with a lock washer on it.  some people have redrilled the holes larger and used larger bolts - i don't have equipment for that.  Dont let them BS you with what Scott is saying - look around the web and you'll see.

other than that, the 350 is a great saw

I also have the Husky 350 2004 model purchased new. My muffler kept falling off despite having helicoils put in and safety wiring the bolts to keep them from backing out. I am considering replacing the cylinder head as I see them on E-Bay for less than $30.
