    Question:
I bought a 455 rancher #965 03 02/00 about 2 or 3 years ago to cut brush on my ranch. I have used it from time to time aproximately 10 to 12 times for an hour or so since purchased. The 2nd or 3rd time I used it the chain started to come off within the first 5 to 10 minutes of use. It has gotten progressively worse and currently will not stay on the saw over 1 minute while in use. This saw has less than 30 hours use. Is there a design problem or recall with this model pertaining to the problem I just explained? I have looked at it closely and cannot determine the reason for the malfunction. What do you recommend.

    Randal,

Chain wear is normal, especially if you have ever over heated the chain. The number one cause of chain stretching is heat from lack of lubrication, and getting the chin bound up in a log. At this point I would recommend replacing the chain and make sure that you fill the oil tank every-time you fill the fuel tank. They should run out at about the same time.

I hope this helps answer your question.
