    Question:
I have a 455 Rancher that has had constant oiler problems. I recently had to replace the oiler and replaced the damaged worm gear at the same time. I also replaced the hose that supplies the oil to the bar, but don't know how to pull out the pickup hose. If I can get needle nosed pliers into the oil tank that far, do I pull it away from the insertion point? Is it something that can then easily be pushed back into the hole after it is cleaned or replaced?

      John,

Ok - On giving the chainsaw a break for a while, but I am also glad you let me know the progress.

I always worry when someone drops off the radar screen, Lol.

I wish I had a good picture of that gear for you, but I really don't, anyhow when you look at the gear, you will see the gear teeth which mesh with the pump gear, and the opposite side or hub side of the gear will have indents forming tabs. Those Tabs must align with the drum sprocket, or you will probably tear up the gear and the pump won't work properly.

      I hope this helps.

      Please keep me posted! Thanks.
