    Thank you for contacting AnswerARMY.

The mower is not designed to "freewheel" in reverse. although it should not be difficult to move. If you find the mower is difficult to move you should take it to the locally authorized service center for inspection. They should check to make sure the drive is releasing and that the bearings are lubricated.

You can find your local Husqvarna dealers for sales and service and parts as well as manuals using the link.

Hold on.  That is the most ridiculous answer I have ever heard.  "it is not designed to "freewheel" in reverse"??????  SO, my mower is only designed to go forward.  Unfortunately my property is not one continuous straight line 20" wide.  As for it not being difficult to move, you literally have to drag the entire weight of the mower across the grass.  St Augustine in Texas gets cut around 4".  It is nothing but difficult to DRAG through my yard.  I'm still in shock that you have the gaul to give that as an answer as a manufacturer.  If the drive lever is released, there should be no mechanical connection to the wheels.  This would definitely pose a safety issue if the mower could move forward when not being told to even with the seperate choke lever.  So tell me there Scott.  How should I move my mower backwards if I mow into a corner.  I'm a 300 lb guy and I have to muscle it around.  My wife is 125lb and it is almost impossible for her to use the mower.  She had no problem using the Poulan Pro we got rid of to buy this POS.  Big mistake.  If Husqvarna cannot own up to a design flaw or, if it was truly not designed to freewheel when the drive lever was released, that makes it the worst engineered self propelled push mower ever designed in the history of man or beast and the perceived quality that went with your brand name just went out the window.  If this is truly your answer to everyone's problem (a serious problem I might add) I will never promote your product to anyone ever again.

Hi David. What I ended up doing was taking off the plastic guard on the back of the mower. Then when you release the drive handle, push the mower ahead a little bit. It will then pull back alright. They should have figured a way to do this better. Other than that problem I really like my mower.

I just purchased the same mower. The manual says to let off the drive bar and then push forward a little distance to disengage the drive wheels. Mowed my lawn earlier, first time i used the new mower, and following the above instructions allowed the mower to 'freewheel'.
