Question:
I recently purchased Outdoor Factory Parts Universal Deck Wash Kit (made by Husqvarna for washing the underside of my 42 inch lawnmower deck from Home Depot having the Bar Code 705788 509430 (No part number on the package) but with a number above the Bar Code as follows:578451301. The instruction sheet has a number 420534, Rev. 2, 03.20.09. Listed on this sheet are included the Contents of the kit which included two drill bits: 421098 Bit, Drill, 3/8 dia; and 421099 Bit, Drill, 11/64 dia. Although the Instruction Sheet indicated that the drill bits were to be included they were not in the package. Upon contacting your Customer Service department at 1-800-849-1297 I was advised that it was not Husqvarna’s problem, that I needed to go back to Home Depot for resolution. This I did, and Customer Service there checked remaining packages and determined that none of the packages contained the (supplied) drill bits. They gave me the missing bits from their Hardware department.
Upon my attempt to install the kit I found that the 11/64 dia. Drill bit was too small for the ¼-20 x 5/8 bolt supplied. In fact this bolt needs something closer to a 7/32 dia. drill bit to get close to the ¼-20 root diameter. Also, the specified 5/16 Nutdriver or Socket/Ratchet is incorrect for the 1/4-20 bolt in your instructions. This should be 3/8. (It appears possibly that originally there may have been a 3/16 bolt size to be used but when changed to 1/4-20 this detail was missed.)
My last comment has to do with the fit of the Quick Disconnect to the Washout Port. This Washout Port seems to be cast undersized because when connected to the water pressure much of the water flows out of the top connection port as well as from the outlet of the bottom of the port where all the water should come out. The unit does work in cleaning the deck under side, but the connection should not be leaking so bad.
I think that you may wish to fix this situation/packaging for Home Depot customers and save some frustration, reputation and money for yourselves.
