    Question:
I bought a new 445 chainsaw from Lowes last month. I was doing some minor maintenance and noted that the manual indicated a "SPANNER WRENCH' for this chain saw. My unit did not come with a spanner wrench and I can't find one on line. Although I belive a spanner wrench (item 32 in the manual) should have been included, I will be satisfied to buy one. Please email an answer to me. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

That's odd.  The wrench is used to tighten the clutch cover bolts and tension the chain.  This would be the first thing that jumps at you.  Why did you wait a month?

I used a 1/2 inch socket and a screw driver. This is my first Husqvarna product. I have used other chain saws that did not come with tools. I was in a hurry, or I would have driven the extra miles and purchased a John Deere which always has what ever you need for maintenance. If I can't get the tool, I'll just return it for a refund and drive the extra miles.

When I replied to the answer saying that "it would be the first thing that jumps at you", I didn't realize that the saw may not come with a combo wrench.  When I purchase my husqvarna saw recently, it came with a combo wrench, so I was assuming that all husqvarna saws came with a combo wrench.

      James,

I have Not received a wrench with any of the chainsaws that I have purchased. All of them are listed as accessories which I believe need to be purchased. I agree with Frank that the "Scrench" (Screwdriver-Wrench) is needed to remove the bar nuts, and the screwdriver portion fits most or almost all the screws in the chain saw, like to remove the cover to get access to the air filter or spark plug. Anyhow, I purchased mine at "Home Depot", who sells the 13mm x 19mm Scrench for $3.95. This is a great price even If you need a spare, I have several, one in each chainsaw box with the chainsaw, and one in my regular tool box.

Oh, I always use a socket type wrench or a scrench, and definitely Not an adjustable or open ended wrench since the bar nuts over time can easily get rounded over, and become real difficult to remove rounded nuts, or you will have to replace the bar nuts over time. So its well worth having the right tool (Scrench).

I hope this Info helps, also there are different size bar nuts, so you may want to check your size, typically they are 13mm but there are different ones!

      Thanks,

Husqvarna support was reached by telephone. They are sending me the tool which should have been in the box (without charge). I have found that when you are dealing with a first class company like Husqvarna, and you have a problem and are polite in your communications, said company will do the right thing.
