    Question:
I have a rancher 455 Husky chainsaw, that for the most part works pretty well. Problem I have is with the clutch cover, the metal ring that goes over the fly wheel cinches down against the fly wheel and then I cant get it to go over the wheel again. There has to be a way to readjust the ring on the clutch cover or do I have to buy another clutch cover? I have had this happen twice, I replaced the clutch cover already but the same thing happened again. And why does this keep happening? I am cutting primarily russian olives, so is it the wood Im cutting creating this problem and what can I do to prevent another.

It cause by not resetting the chain brake before removal of the cover. When Karla drop in she should be able post the procedure for the brake.

It basically putting the cover lightly tighten the bar retaining nuts and while pressing on the cover at the hand brake area pull the hand brake to reset.

For me I make my own brake reset tool so I reset the brakes in the shop as customers bring their covers.

      John,

Here is a link to a previously posted Method:

Also after removing the bar and chain, I turn the chainsaw up on its side, it seems easier holding the cover flat down. You also do Not need to put the Bar Nuts on during the brake resetting, just hold the cover in place, and move the brake handle all the way forward, and then pull back and it should reset. Do not worry about the back end of the cover sticking out or away from the chainsaw, that will fall into place when the brake is reset.

      I hope this helps,

      Karla
