Walk Behind Lawn Mowers

after 2 days of trying to figure out where the mower control cable attached, I've finally figured it out. I searched the lawn for any piece that may have broken off the mower. I found a black piece that matched up to the transmission. This piece broke off. How can it be fixed? is it covered under warranty? please help
