    Question:
    Hello,
I have a husqvarna self-propelled mower model 5521chv. The dust cover on the front right wheel has been broken and dirt and grass has been getting in. Of course the wheel got packed with grass several times and I kept cleaning it out until finally the plastic sprocket gears inside the drive wheel got mostly worn down. So I recently ordered and received a new right wheel and a new dust cover. I have taken off the wheel and metal sprocket without any problem, but I can't figure out how to get the dog clutch assembly off the shaft so that I can slide on the dust cover behind it. Is there a hidden key or pin that needs to be removed to get that assembly off the shaft so that I can slide the dust cover on behind it and reassemble it?
    Let me know,
    Hoyet

     Hoyet,

Thanks for contacting Husqvarna to post your questions.

After the circlip is removed and the drive gear is off of the shaft the dust cover pulls right off of the shaft as well.

There is a pin that the gear aligns on in the end of the axle that needs to come out to get the gear off.

I hope this helps and thanks again.

Hello, is anyone out there?  I still can't get the dog clutch off the shaft to get the dust cover on.  Click on the picture below to see the clutch.

I'm sorry, but it's not that simple. I have removed the wheel and the metal sprocket, but the dust cover mounts behind the dog clutch which is mounted on the drive shaft, in front of where the dust cover slides on. The clutch is of a larger diameter than the dust cover so you can't simply slide it over it. So I need help finding the mystery pin to enable me to slide off the circular clutch assembly that needs to come off the shaft. In the attached picture you can see that I already tore off the old dust cover, but the new one must GI on behind the dog clutch assembly.

      Thanks for the question.

I am sending the illustrated parts list with step by step instructions on how to remove and reinstall. Hope this helps you. If can not get off then something else must be wrong. Youwill need to take to a dealer then. Remember use some spray white lith. grease to lube the gear and wheel. Also lube the other side while you are doing this side.

Thanks and have a great day
