    Question:
I have a backpack blower mod # 145bt that my father-in-law bought about 3 years ago. It has always leaked gas from the gas cap. I have bought 2 new caps, and broke 2 caps, trying to solve this problem. From what I read on the Internet this was a common problem with this model. And yes the cap does have the rubber seal in it. It seems like a waste to have such a nice blower sitting around not being used because of gas leaking all over you when using it. Is there a fix for this? Thanks for your time and help.

It is upsetting you have had this experience.

The 145 series of blower did not have fuel tank leakage issues, my thoughts are that something has happened to the tank neck and this is preventing the cap from sealing correctly. At this point I would suggest replacing the fuel tank assembly.

Please contact your local authorized Husqvarna service center to see about ordering a new tank for your blower.

Please do a google search and you will find that ther are numerous post with the same problem. This has been a problem from day one according to my father-in-law. I will gather all the post and send them to husqvarna and see if they can help. Like I said this is a nice and expensive blower to have just sitting around not being used.

I too am having the same issue, it is not the neck but the gas cap seal. I couldn't find a cap anywhere and all the dealers have to order it. What I have found is that the original seal/breather is not made anymore , most probably because of this issue, and the replacement number is 531 00 33-47 but it's over $9.00 plus shipping and will take over a week at my local dealer.  I did find out that the seal breaks down because of the ethanol gas.

There should be something on the website saying the replacment part has changed and save some homeowners fustration of having to track it down themselves. Also there should be more parts available for homeowner models, that don't need ordering and if its sold in a large reatiler they should have a majority of the parts for whatever model they sell. Miner was bought @ Lowes and they only have mower caps or trimmer line.

Is anyone aware of a recall?  I see that they had to recall the BT155 because of a similar problem.  I have the same model(BT 145) and have the same problem.  My seal has deteriorated and since this occurred it has been leaking gas from the cap.  Because of the natural vibration of the engine, the gas leaks down through the bottom pf the blower and down your back and legs. (Very Dangerous!)

I have had and am still having the same issue. The only way that I have been successful is to put a piece of plastic over the opening and cover with the defective cap. It is ashamed that this is what I have to do with such an expensive blower. Step up Husqvarna and do a recall or something

I returned the hus to lowes and went to hitachi  machine http://jonsguide.org/best-hitachi-leaf-blower/ Had the intension to pick up the bg55 but the salesman sucked me in and I ended up picking up the bg86. I just finished blowing my driveway and sidewalk. My review so far: lots of power more than my craftsman pro 205mph which I replaced with this one, very easy to start, no numbing sensation after about 2hrs of use, not that loud, light weight.. Cons: it's really made for right handed people because the intake fan is on the right side so when I use my left hand my pants gets sucked into it... Other than that I hope it runs this good for the seasons to come
