    Question:
My new 450 chain saw leaks chain oil. I mop up a puddle, and the next day there's another puddle. I took it to the local service center and they would not do warranty work on it (we lose money on warranty; that's what you get for buying online instead of a store; yadda yadda).

The service center is Preferred Turf Equipment, 850 Cattlemen Rd, Sarasota, FL. They should be removed from your list of service centers.

Bottom line: How much, if any, chain oil leakage is normal? It has been sitting for a week and still drips.

      Gary,

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with a service shop, I agree with your comment.

But, back to your problem, there are several FAQ's on leaking oil. Just go to the search box and type "oil leak", and you can read several of them. There are some reasons why a chainsaw may leak oil, and there are other reasons where the chainsaw may need oil system repair components, like new pump, or new oil lines, but since your saw is new I would assume all the components are in good shape, but remember a lot of the oil system hoses are just slip on fittings and may not be as tight as they should be. I have had some chain saws leave absolutely no oil stain or leak when I put it away, and I have had others that leak a couple teaspoons of oil. I have also noticed that if the temperature is warm, and the oil viscosity is thin than I may get more of a leak. Anyhow, read some of the FAQ's, If you need additional information, I will be glad to try and help.

Just let me know, if you can't isolate or solve your problem.

      I hope this helps.
