    Question:
Hi. I received my new YTA24V48 from Lowe's with extended warranty last week, and needed to disengage the transmission via the free-wheel rod on the back. Unfortunately, as soon as I touched it, the internal spring pulled the rod through the "keyhole" inside the housing below the seat! So, I gassed it up and was able to drive it into my garage instead. Is there a way to fix this on my own, or should I contact Lowe's or Husqvarna for assistance with getting this fixed? Thanks, Tony G., Ruckersville VA.

I bought the same mower from Lowe's in March and didn't put it into service until the end of April. I did not purchase the extended warranty since it comes with a two year warranty from Husqvarna. The forward and reverse peddle was very stiff and also made a noise you described, but I thought it was just needing broken-in. At 9.2 hours on the clock I lost reverse. It moved forward okay but the peddle was not operating properly. I headed to the garage but the linkage to the forward/reverse peddle fell off and the mower quit moving. I contacted Lowe's at the number on the back of the mower and was told that since I didn't take out the extended warranty and the machine was over 30 days old there wasn't anything Lowe's will do, even thou it only had 9.2 hours on it. They told me to contact Husqvarna to get it repaired. I found a warranty repair shop and took it to them. They got back with me a couple days later and said the transmission/trans-axle was defective and caused the unit to bend the mounting tabs on the frame. This caused the drive bar to disengage from the trans-axle. They told me to see if Lowe's would exchange it for another machine or give me a refund. That they couldn't guarantee that the mounting tabs would hold up since the temper was compromised by them being bent. A new frame may be needed. Lowe's said SORRY ABOUT YOUR LUCK!

I'm have to take it back to the repair shop and hope Husqvarna will make this good. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chris O. Bethel, OH

I too, purchased this same mower from Lowes in June of 2017.  At 58 hrs. I have had to replace the rear axle output drive seals and at 64 hrs. the right side is leaking again.  I understand that these seals are have been a problem with the RS800 General Transmission---"Fast Transmission" ---unit that is installed in the YTA24V48 model.

The General Transmission rep gave me a source and part # for the seals; they were not expensive and not hard to install, after removing the rear wheels.  However, there is obviously a flaw with the seals and or axle design and this problem should be addressed.

I have contacted the General Transmission rep I had conferred with before---don't know what he will recommend this time.  The unit is under warranty, so I'll have to see what he recommends I do.

…..thought this info might be of some help if others are having the same issue.
