    Question:
I have a riding mower model YTA22V46. I have a loud vibration coming from the drive belt when I let the clutch out and the drive belt is vibrating like crazy. I put a new belt on but that didn’t help. See attached picture and video link below. As you can see on the left side of the picture the vibration is so bad that it twisted the new belt. I imagine one of the pulleys was hit with some debris and is out of alignment. Any idea on what's wrong? That idler pulley in the middle...is that in the right position? That bolt touching the bottom of the painted metal doesn't seem right? Maybe that part is tweaked?

Did you the OEM belt or aftermarket belt? As it appears that the belt is too tight which causes it over heat and roll over like in the picture.

I know my main aftermarket was sending me belts that were short which is why I have changed vendors myself.

Now I don't much experience with mower with the RS800 transmission as I only seen one of them in my shop. The only thing I seen causing v-belt to be bouncing a lot is a broken axle, internal transmission, or bad bearing in one of the idler pulley on other mowers.

I actually did some more investigation and realized that there is a chunk missing from one of the idlers so I'm pretty sure that is the culprit.  I tried to unscrew the nut holding the idler on to replace it but it is on there really tight and I ended up rounding off the nut after trying to break it loose for 30 minutes.  Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?  The part is Idler Flat, part number 532 19 43-27 (item 50 on page 8 of the attached).  The nut that I've rounded off is 873 90 06-00 (item 51 on page 8 of the attached).  I have the clutch pushed in while I'm working on it...does that matter?  Is there a different method of replacing the idler other than unscrewing that nut?  Thanks in advance.

No you must remove the nut as the bolt is a 3/8-16 carriage bolt and you will not be to get a hold on the rounded head. It does sounds like you used a 12 point socket where a 6 point is best for these nuts. Also carriage bolts also need a constant outward pressure to keep the square head area engaged in the hole. With it rounded off you need a nut splitter to crack the nut so you can get it off. Just be carefully as to not damage the bolt's thread or you will a 3/8-16 x 2-3/4 grade 5 carriage bolt; Item 185.

You're absolutely right...I used a 12 point socket :(  I'm going to try the nut splitter in the next couple days.  Thanks for all the help!
