    Question:
Quick oil drain plug system , I have just purchased a husqvarna tc138 riding mower, Briggs intek4 single cylinder 17.5 HP , my oil drain plug is a solid brass type and I’ve seen there is a quick plug available, is it possible to retro fit this to mine ? I’m in the uk

Can you give the model and the type numbers off the engine? This so I can double check the IPL of the engine but normally you change over to the quick change and hose system without problem. I am coorect it would a 3/8"-18 NPTF fitting.

Here I have various problems with the drain system causing oil leakage. Personally in my shop I no longer use the quick drains as I now use oil extractor system mainly because I get in engine without even a drain plug and because it is less messy on engine like your current setup.

Not sure if the pump system to remove oil gets it all out though ?

Mine usually does very well as the added oil back is correct but any oil drain system will not fully empty the crankcase even standard setup as you currently have as there places simply not drain due internal webbing of the oil pan (crankcase access cover). The Harbor Freight pneumatic system does this fairly well just need a slight extra cycle as I need to some the oil to drain off the previously covered parts. I did modify the pickup hose so it a little closer to bottom of the dipstick tube.

I’ve linked a photo , husqvarna have given me a small plastic sleeve but the quick releases drain would be better

Yes you can use the system as it appear to be the standard oil plug. There are several different styles of the system on the market. Ones with attached hose and those that have dectachable hoses. Currently what Briggs have there IPL is the one that hose to stay attached.

Of the style this the one I see the most.

Two options that should be available in the UK

The one I imaged is Kohler PN 2575514S Goggle this number it and aftermarket versions Does fit most Briggs engines. You supply the 1/2 id hose.

The Briggs system is two parts 796532 (engine connector) and 594200 ( Hose assembly). These must be fitted together and left in place.

There is a Drainz hose setup PN STAN1438 but may not be available in the UK.
