First make sure you have the v-belt routed correctly.

Also have you double checked the belt length? I have received in belt that were incorrectly package before. Matter of fact I recieved one last the was to be 1/2 x 52-3/4 and when I went to install it I could even get over the pulleys. It turned out to be 1/2 x 51-3/4. Another example was about 4 years ago the customer had install a Gates A86 belt on his mower. The A86 was supposedly 1/2 x 88 but the one in the package and several at the parts store was only 1/2 x 86.

the belt I bought at the dealer was smaller went to napa was an inch difference. as belt routing I believe it to be correct, but iam still guessing a 52 inch belt is not the right one maybe 54 inch.
