    Question:
I had a new 350 saw and after a couple of years,it suddenly ran away (speed), I had carb, partition wall, and bellows(manifold), replaced at a"dealer". But to no avail. suddenly it went from great to crap!

I had cut a little firewood each year. I am 80 years old so you know I am not in the woods much--more a "MA and PA outing" operation.I bought this saw for My "golden years. It only lasted a couple of years.

I was appalled at the attitude and absolute lack of help or information from Husqvarna. It is NOT EVEN POSSIBLE TO CONTACT HUSQVARNA BY MAIL, PHONE OR COMPUTER. SURE YOU GET A CALL CENTER THAT GIVES THIS SITE AS A HELP! Always I am referred to a "dealer".... who in My rural area is usually the incompetent mechanic that got fired and then inheiretd Uncle Henry's money or dealership and is still a bumpkin who can't call parts by their proper name (a preset tie strap is a "master link")!!They don't know anything about chainsaws and only say "It is out of warranty".And,"You can buy another new one".

Then I recall Sweden is a socialist country, and the attitude is always the same: "YOU BOUGHT IT, USED IT, IT IS YOURS, AND NOW YOUR PROBLEM--TAKE IT TO OUR DEALER FOR REPAIRS (YOU WILL PAY FOR IT".

So now, I am looking for a new chainsaw. My old Mac. ran for 40 years and only required an occasional chain sharpening or a wash out and fresh fuel in the gas tank after 2 years storage. But it was getting heavier by the year and "obsolete".

Husqvarna recommends the 450 model. After reviewing the specifics I find this may actually be the discontinued 350 with some errors in engineering corrected, (or JERRY RIGGED) with a taller cover on the carb. Now, I am being advised to buy a 450 "REFURBISHED" for about 80-85% of what a new one sells for. I find that over 1/2 the chainsaw sellers are selling 450's refurbished.

It sounds as if 450's are being taken back in great quantity and "faulty design", repaired or corrected It is the same as the 350 all over again. As a rancher, I have experienced Many new and used farm equipment dealerships. Some trades-ins are "refurbished----or overhauled,or rebuilt", but turns out- that they were only "REBUILT WITH A PAINT BRUSH" (Sounds like Haney on GREEN ACRES??).

Anyone know anything about the reliability on the 450? Failure rate or percent of returns or replacements??

China sells a direct copy of the 450 for about $80. I expect this one to be crap-but not the Husqvarna. I wish I could buy a great US made saw!!
