I have a model yth20k46 riding mower. after about 8 years the mower stopped going forward or backward. The drive belt seemed loose so I replaced it. Still had the same problem. Now I have ordered a new transaxle. I am now trying to find instructions on replacing the transaxle. can you help?

Answer
no actual instructions that I know of. Be sure to remove both the deck and seat for ease of access. Just be patient, thoroughly clean everything before you start, and don't be in a hurry. It is not as bad as it looks.

Will it even try to move?
Didn't remove one the rear wheel to repair a flat did you? If so you might have lost an axle key. Both axle keys must be in place for the transaxle to drive. So far I only seen one K46 transaxle failure and that was a broken axle.
Also when you replaced the drive belt did you replace the v-idler pulley? They known to wear heavily and cause belt slippage even with a new belt.
As for actually transaxle removal it would be best if you can suspended the mower rear section so you can have clear access to drop the transaxle.

It does not try to move.
When it was failing it would move a little, but finally it stopped moving completely.
I ordered a transaxle from sears using the part number from the owners manual (T2-AABC-1X2B-1GX1). What I got did not match the one from my mower.
The transaxle I took out had a TUFF TORQ number (7A646084180). Now I do not know where to get the correct unit
