    Question:
I recently purchased a new 455 Rancher with a 20" bar. The bar says its a 3/8 pitch, but the chain has 80 drive teeth. How can this be correct? I thought 80 drive teeth was for a .325 pitch. Is this a mistake from Husqvarna? How do I find out what the pitch is supposed to be? I would like to purchase a smaller bar and chain for this saw.

    Thank you for this question.

All model 455s shipped in the USA and Canada were shipped with .375, it was made available that dealers could change to a .325 if customer requested.

There is no saw I am aware of that uses 80 DL in a .375 chain that would be used on a called length of approximately 22 or 23 inch bar. So this tells me that the 80DL chain you have is .325 and most likely for a different saw like the 450 for example.

Since you have these mismatched parts the only way to know now is to have the dealer remove the clutch and read the pitch on the sprocket and drum. All three pieces must match the sprocket, the chain and the bar the bar and chain also have to match with gauge.
