    Question:
I have two 223l trimmers that have damaged starter pulleys(from pulling too hard...) I have attempted to replace the starter pulleys, but each time the pull cord hangs up and will not recoil. What is the secret to this repair??!!

Assuming the recoil spring is not cracked somewhere in the middle, tensioning the cord is fairly easy,  notice in the 'wall' of the pulley a slight cut out, pull out a foot or so of cord,  convince the cord to go into this cut out in the pulley  wall, now use the cord to tension the recoil spring by turning it a few times around... hope this  helps

Thanks Dan. Pre-tensioning the starter cord helped, and I had the tension springs mounted upside down. Now that all is corrected they are back from the dead. Really appreciate the speed of your reply, Mike
