    Question:
I've got a 4yr old Husqvarna RZ5426 and the drive belt is toast. I have one on order and was taking the mower apart so I'm ready to install the new one.

I ran into the issue of taking off the bottom bolt of the driveshaft pulley. I took a wrench to the top bolt and turned the bottom CCW to loosen. It didn't happen and only loosened the top bolt under the flywheel.

How do I prevent the top bolt from unscrewing while trying to unscrew the bottom bolt?

I'm thinking i will need an impact wrench to use on the bottom bolt? Do these bolts need to loosen or is there another way to get the ground drive belt off?

    Many thanks,
    Mitch

Yes the pto clutch needs to come off as it anti rotation bracket prevent you from installing the drive belt. Don't forget get the pto clutch back into the anti rotation bracket or you be buying a new clutch as wires will be pulled out.

The easiest way to remove the bolt is with an impact. Now some the pto clutches there is 1-3/8 double flat bushing that can hold with a wrench and loosen the center. Otherwise you need to lock the flywheel in place and loosen the bolt. Remember to torque PTo bolt to 55-65 ft-lbs and the flywheel (since you have loosen it) back to engine specs.

      Thanks Eugene Rounds.

I put a 1/2" impact wrench on that baby and WHAM!!! off it came.  It took longer to remove the wrench from the packaging compared to taking that bolt off.

Now, just waiting for the belts to arrive in the mail.

      Thanks again,
