    Question:
    I recently purchased a PoulanPro PP4218A chainsaw.What do I have?
    Details:

Apparently no one at Poulan knows either.  Checking for parts nothing was listed for a PP4218A. A multitude for PP4218AV, AVX, AVL, AVX HD, etc. I phoned customer service as I wanted to be sure I was going to be getting the correct parts for my saw. I was told, "There is no 4218A". I spent considerable time on the phone, but finally spoke to a guy at Huskavarna.

He also told me there was no PP4218A. The decal on the side of the saw says 4218A. The instruction manual says it's for the 4218A. The manual is dated 4-15-2012, so he said that that model might not be in the system yet. Really? The saw has the anti-vibration handle so I suppose it's also (could be?) a PP4218AV?

So can anyone clue me in as to what I need to do, or what this saw model crosses to as I'd sure like to order some consumable parts like a clutch, air & fuel filters, etc.

BTW, when I first gassed it up to use, after pressing the primer bulb it tried to start on the 2nd pull, and DID start on the 3rd pull. I only used it a bit more then 2 hours that day and it performed perfectly. The blow moulded case is pretty nice.

How long do we have to wait for an answer? I have one too.

I just ran across this post on the web and thought you might like a real answer. I have the same chainsaw PP4218A. I understand the frustration of trying to find parts or an owners manual, but the answer was in your hand the whole time. The PP4218A is the same chainsaw as the PP4218AV. If you remove the plastic cover on the bar side of the chainsaw where the adjustment screw is and flip it over on the inside it says AV. Why poulan did this I have no idea but that's the answer.

Kevin, I appreciate the answer to my quesion. However in the meantime I ordered several consumeable parts (air filer, fuel filter, clutch, etc) based upon what I had 'Guessed' it might be. Happily the parts are the same as what is on the saw. I had 2 Mac Cullough 12"  saws that I used for YEARS (don't need huge saws for citrus) . My parents & grand parents owned citrus groves in So.Californina since 1853 and I used those 2 saws (ran one till it ran out of gas, and then ran the 2nd ) . Every 2 tanks I'd sweeten the chain and hit it again. Keep the chain sharp and those 2 small 'Homeowner' type saws cut a hellacious amount of wood..

This 18" Poulan is twice the saw but they (Poulan) don't know cra*p and can't tell you a thing. Either that or they don't care, and simply cant be bothered. I figured the saw was probably made in China and they (Poulan Pros {whatta joke})  didn't know squat, so why embarrass themselves with an idiotic answer..In any event I certainly apprciate your taking the time to respond to my question. It's obvious that you'd be an idiot to hold your breath waiting for a response from the nudge's who are suposed to be in the know. Customer service and support by the manufacturer is pretty much dead. I get better results from Harbor Freight.

Well Mike, I guess you and I own the only 2 of these saws Poulan produced :-) However I decided, 'What the heck' and ordered some spare air cleaners, fuel filters, a bar, fuel and oil caps for a PP4218AV. They all fit as I suspected they might. I figured I might die of old age before I got an answer.  I spent considerable time on the phone trying to get ahold of ANYONE at Poulan, who might have an answer. If anyone ever does come up with a phone number that really reaches a human being at Poulan .................... ah well, never mind.
