    Question:
We have a model 128LDX trimmer, my wife uses for cematary work. One year old unit, she went to use it this evening, and came back home, disappointed. Starts up fine, but head just barely turns. She said it was working fine, then it just started barely moving. Im not sure how these work, but it reminds me of a clutch slipping. Could this be a gear getting worn,or any idea? Is there anything I can do to attempt to fix this, rather than take it to a dealer? Im a farmer, so no stranger to tools.
    thanks,
    Jim

Fairly simply to check as  the drive goes Clutch and housing, drive shafts and a gear box at the end where the trimmer head is. All of which can give problems. This is provide that the engine is running at full speed and not bogging down which is a different type problem.

Attach is the parts list that should give a good idea what your looking at.

Note that  the clutch drum(housing) has a trox screw down in the center where drive shaft goes if you need to remove it. Also you need to use piston  stop or rope to stop the crank from if removing the clutch ( Pay attention to the remove arrow too as some are left handed threaded)
