    Question:
How can I troubleshoot a jammed pull cord?
    Details:

See attached video.  I have a 1.5 year old HU725AWD.  I mowed for about an hour yesterday, and then shut it off for about 10 minutes.  When I tried to start the mower again, the pull cord was jammed, and now I am unable to start the mower.  I checked all around the pull-start area, and there is no obstruction.

    • Eugene Rounds
      • Disconnect spark plug.
      • Make sure the engine brake is releasing.
      • With engine brake released by tying down release handle check that you spin the blade around over 360 degrees turn. If you can't move it. Try removing spark plug. If it still doesn't turn then the rod is most likely seized to the crankshaft due to the lack of oiling.
      • If you can easily turn the engine by hand then there is good chance that the recoil is jammed or the engine was hydro locked if plug is still removed.
