    Question:
Bought a 450 Rancher (20")a couple months ago. Very happy with the saw except the chain. It cut great at first but didn't seem to last too long (maybe after an hour or two of cutting). Sharpened the chain and had the same result. Had the chain professionaly sharpened at my local shop & had the same result. The saw calls for a .325, .050, 80 link chain. Husqvarna lists an H30-80 for this saw but it isn't recommended for extensive cutting (I'm cutting firewood, primarily oak, maples, etc no more than 14"-16" diameter give or take) & would like a chain that holds up longer than this stock chain. I'm also running an old Homelite 20" with an Oregon chain and that chain has been cutting for months with minor sharpening here & there. Would like to get the same results on my Husqvarna. Any help or suggestions is appreciated. Thank you!

      I too bought a 450 4 years ago (2009).'

I burned up a chain and bar before I knew it with plenty of oil in the system.

I bought another bar and chain and before I bolted it up someone else wanted my wonderful saw (it was reliable on cranking

and running) more than I  must have.   Hope they are put on the firewood detail in that hotplace they deserve to be relegated to.

I am also frustrated with the limited amount of factual info on these saws thru the Lowe's s stores.  There is little or none.

They have a chain and bar guide which leaves a lot to be desired.

I was considering buying a 460 to get the 24" extended bar and chain and Lowes has no source listed for anything of that size.

Yeah haven't had much luck from Lowe's either. All they have is the H30-80 chain. When I asked about other chains I was told that the H30-80 is all they have & I may want to look on line for other options. There doesn't seem to be much at all available for this size chain. Should have bought from a local shop but my old saw quit on me on a Sunday & the girlfriend went to Lowes that same day & bought this 450 Rancher for me (which was really super nice of her!) so I could keep working. Now if I can just get a good chain for it.
