    Question:
    I have a Husqvarna 455 Rancher
    Bar: Sn A 20/50 050/13
    3/8 72DL 107799GQ
    Chain: 72 3/8 .50

I need to match a new bar with a ripping chain.
I will be cutting 10" dia 10' long logs in 1/2 cutting parallel with the grain.

Also can you recommend a bar and chain to make a plunge cut into the bottom of a 20" dia log to install a 1/2" x 11" x 26" knife plate.
The stock bar that came with the saw is to short to make the 26" deep cut.
Will the 455 rancher handle the longer bar? What type of bar and chain do you recommend the make the plunge cuts.

I'm having trouble matching bars and chains with the call out numbers on the web sites. Most sites list the machines that their bars will fit but do not list ripping chains that match the bars they sell.

Thank you fpr contacting Husqvarna's Answer Army.

First, Husqvarna does not have a Ripping Chain which is compatible with the 455 saw (runs 3/8 pitch chain)

Secondly, the Owner's Manual for the 455 saw does not recommend a guide bar longer than 24 inches (actual cutting capacity is 23 inches) with full complement chain, and we do not stock a longer bar for that model.

You might want to contact a Husqvarna parts & service dealer in your area to see if they can work with Oregon, the major supplier of chainsaw cutting equipment in the U. S., to get bar and chain recommendations to meet your needs.
