    Question:
Hi there...I have a 6ish year old 10527STE blower, bought it new. I noticed when I went to use it for the first time this year that the left wheel (as I stand behind the machine) was spinning freely on the axle (makes it kind of hard to control the blower in deep snow).

I removed the wheel and found that the two "dogs" on the inside of the hub that slip into slots on the axle to move the wheel are sheared off...this looks like pretty tough steel. How in the world could this have happened? I baby this thing and my driveway isn't a hard driveway to blow snow. I went to my local Husqy dealer where I bought it and he found a part number for the wheel (532198266) to the tune of $140.

I'm thinking that I may have a friend try to weld those dogs back on.

I guess my question is, does anyone know what may have caused this? The torque to break these off had to of been enormous.

If pictures would help I can take some later on today and post them here.

    Thanks,

Well, I removed the other wheel for the heck of it and one of the pieces on this wheel is cracked...I had an Ariens for over 20 years and never did anything but change the oil and lube it every year, and occasionally change belts when they started slipping...I kinda wish I hadn't of given it to my son. He still uses it and has no issues with it....

If my buddy can't weld these, it's going to be real tough to spend almost $300 for a set of new wheels and maybe have these break in a couple of years.

Does anyone from Husqvarna ever visit this place? I'm wondering what their thoughts are on this? I've owned husqy saws my whole life as my dad did before me, never had problems with them as long as they were maintained...I have a husqy mower, never had any problem with it either but this kinda irks me
