    Question:
YTH 180 hydrostatic fluid, how do I flush and refill, what kind of oil?
    Details:

Have a YTH 180 1vtwin kohler with hydro tranny.  Recently while moving the mower, it was placed at a very steep downwards angle on a ramp (almost vertical).  Some of the hydro fluid leaked out (my guess would be around 6 o 8 ounces).

The tractor sat for a while while I replaced other parts on the engine (fuel solenoid, seals etc).  Now I have the engine running perfectly but no drive, forward or reverse.

So, the million dollar question is: could the fluid loss be causing my loss of drive?

If so, how do I drain it, how do I refill it and most importantly, what kind of oil do I replace it with?

    Thanks!

Thank you for contacting the AnswerARMY.

First I suggest you make the sure belt is turning and the dump valve has not been activated.

Secondly you will need your full product ID to determine which brand transmission was used in your tractor. Actually your local dealer should be able to look this information up for you once you get the full product ID.

Hydrogear typically takes 20W50 engine oil while Tuff Torq uses 10W30 engine oil in the transmission, if the unit is Peerless that information has never been shared and the transmission would need to be replaced.
