Does the plastic cover over the muffler need to be removed in order to clean the spark arrestor mesh properly?
I have a reconditioned 223L which came with a spark arrestor mesh, but I live in Vermont which I don't think qualifies as having a warm and dry climate got which the arrestor was designed for. Is there any downside to having the mesh in my climate?

Answer
Yes needs removing. It easily removes with torx screwdriver. These should be no downside on using the screen as the muffler is normally hot enough to keep the screen when the carburetor tuned correctly and proper fuel mix is used.
