    Question:
Snowthrower 9027STE XP Having a series of problems with this lately. Currently things seem good except for the drive system.
Replaced the drive belt and now as soon as I start the machine the belt throws off. I'm thinking that the problems lies in the traction drive pulley ----when the machine is off should I be able to freely rotate that pulley by hand? I can't...and my thought is that if that is supposedly to freely rotate until I engage the drive lever that is what is causing the belt to come off immediately. The auger belt ( which was the initial problem) is not giving me any trouble. It seems as the friction drive is stuck in an engaged setting. Is there some sort of adjustment on that side of the drive mechanism that could account for this?

It was fine with the old drive belt...which I replaced due to some splits becoming evident. And the replacement belt is direct from Husqvarna.

To make this simpler I've posted the relevant schematic.

    Thanks!
