    Question:
I bought a new Husqvarna 440e and expected it to have the toolless chain tension adjustment feature, however it doesn't. It came with the tension adjustment tool. The box says it is a 440e. On the side of the saw, it says it's eSeries 440. Was my saw manufactured or packaged incorrectly? Should a 440e have the toolless feature? It seems like a handy feature to have and I'm trying to determine if I should return this saw to get a different one.

      Joesph,

The Model 440-e should have the tooless brake cover, however It is possible that your dealer or store got one with the standard Model 440 brake cover. If it still within warranty you should be able to contact the dealer or store for a brake cover replacement.

If its out of warranty, you could also simply order a Model 440-e Brake cover, which are not too pricey, and then you will have two brake covers, I have done that on a few of my chainsaws and it works just fine. If the one brake cover gets gummed up, and you are in the middle of doing alot of cutting rather than stopping to clean the cover just swap the brake cover. Also I have the tooless brake covers but usually swap them to the Standard (two bar nut) brake covers, my personal preference is that I like them alot more than the tooless, just my opinion.

      I hope the information helps,

      Karla
