Question:
When I turned my headlights on my 2017 26hp 54" riding lawnmower cut off while the blades were engaged. I have checked the wiring and have not yet found an issue but since the blades are engaged I need to disengage the blades before continuing to troubleshoot the other concern so that the 2 issues don't overlap. How do I disengage the blades when there is no electricity from the battery making it to the PTO switch?

Please post you mower model number. As it sounds like something is missed wired as normally the lighting is on a different circuit than the PTO.

Okay Karen looks like you do have an electric PTO clutch and you can disconnect it near the clutch itself.
Now looking the diagram the most logical thing is a partially shorted the electric clutch. Might wonder how can work if shorted well I have seen them to pull up to 20 amps and still work. With them pulling this kind of amperage the engine alternator which only produces 6-16 amps can not keep with the demand there pulls the battery voltage down so much that the engine shuts down.
To test the PTO electric clutch requires an Ohms meter so you can if it has a resistance greater than 1.7 ohms. If less than 1.7 ohms the clutch will need replacing. Also the voltage may have failed leading to no output from the alternator.
If you know how to test these fine. If you don't then you find someone that can test these for you.
