    Question:
I have a 123L model string trimmer and am having difficulty with it.
It was running fine and ran out of gas. I filled it up and it will not start.
I put a new plug in it and did nothing. I pumped the ball and can see full and bobbles in full line. It will then start for a minute and die again.
The trimmer has always started on the first pull and I have used it every day for 3 years.
Could it have a hole in a full line or stopped up pick up.
I always use good gas and no one uses it but me

    Glenn,

You mentioned that you put in a new spark plug, which is a good first step.  Next, when was the last time you changed the air filter?  The air filter must be regularly cleaned to remove dust and dirt in order to avoid:

    • Carburettor malfunctions
    • Starting problems
    • Loss of engine power
    • Unnecessary wear to engine parts
    • Excessive fuel consumption.

The motor could be flooded with gas.  Be sure not to completely fill the air purge while pumping it.

Glenn, please also verify that you've performed these (monthly) tasks:

    • Clean the fuel tank.
    • Clean the outside of the carburettor and the space around it.
    • Clean the fan and the area around it.
    • Check fuel hose for cracks or other damage. Change if necessary.
    • Change the fuel filter in fuel tank.
    • Check the clutch, clutch springs and the clutch drum for wear. Replace if necessary.
    • Check electrical wires and connections.
    • Replace the spark plug. Check that the spark plug is fitted with a suppressor.
    • Change the air filter.
    • Check and clean the spark arrestor mesh on the muffler (only applies to mufflers fitted with a catalytic converter).

Here is a link to the owner's manual which contains more detail on maintenance and problem-solving:

Also, some of the maintenance tasks (such as adjusting the carburettor) should only be performed by your local dealer.  You can find one by going here:

Husqvarna website is really horrible. All the answers to all the questions state to "contact local dealer and task should only be performed by local dealer". So what is the website for again???????????
