i have a Husqvarna L65 that will be in need of a new clutch soon. Is there a newer model that will fit or do I need to start saving for a new saw! Hoping there is one that will fit. Thanks for any advice.
Do you happen to know which models of saws have a compatible clutch? I've tried for several days to do online searches for other models that will fit but all I end up finding is a parts manual for my saw with no references to other models that may fit. I've searched other forums to see if anyone else has asked a similar question and I have come up empty there as well.
there are many centrifugal clutch and drum/needle cage bearing sets that will re-fit your saw. " Oregon " has rim sprocket sets that will work nicely.
any authorized Husqvarna service center can help you. if you want to figure this thing out on your own, then bag up the needle cage/drum/clutch and bring a 1/4" ratchet, short extension, and 13mm socket to lowes, then remove a clutch brake cover from a display 460 model. compare your diameter to theirs and simple visual measurement will tell the tale.
the majority of clutch drum sizes are universal and inter-change one brand to another, not to even mention one model to another.
be creative and use your imagination and I assure you success.
1stly, why do you think a new clutch is in order? if you have been using a spur, then drop it like a hot rock. go with a rim sprocket set-up.
Answer
several clutch models will work nicely on your saw. even some from different brands of saw.
