    Question:
    Increasing Trimmer Cord life.
The 223L Operator's manual, p.9 states that to make the trimmer line tougher and last longer that you soak in in water for a couple of days.
Is it ok to immerse the whole trimmer head with the line in water?
Is this a one time operation or should it be done to the line periodically?

Now that new one on me. Plastic isn't normally affected by water other than rinse off residues, Soaking the entire head is going to leave water in the head which will attract dirt which so or later cause you problem. Trimmer head are bad enough to fill dirt and other debris which adding something that will attract them.

If you are going to do this soak, do this to your replacement line separately from the trimmer. You would better off just buying a high quality line. Cheap replacement line tends to have welding problems anyway which causing jamming.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments. It does make sense not to soak the trimmer head.

I also found it an odd suggestion in their own manual. Especially since I would think they were assuming you would buy their own high quality line - which I've done.
