Hi, i have a 2005 or so YTH2148.

it's been running terrible, and surging at idle once warm. carb seems fairly clean, i sprayed it all out, reinstalled, but no improvement. is a carb kit available for these? i can't even find carb diagrams anywhere i look. i tried bypassing the fuel pump with a funnel going into the carb, but no difference. fuel filter is new, air filter is cleaned. thx

Also, when the mower PTO is engaged, the engine spews smoke, and only runs about 20%, not enough to even travel forward while engaged.

Hi Matt, the carb overhaul kit part no: 842261 thats a genuine Briggs & Stratton part, when you take off the carb again get a aerosol spray can of carb cleaner with the long nozzle to spray in the small pilot jets & up the main jet, before that try a couple of new sparkplugs (champion RC12YC) also try running the engine & remove the air filter for a few seconds to see if air flow is the problem.
