Question:

I purchase my 455 Rancher in June of this year and it was working great. I had about 5 hours on the saw in October and was cutting a stump off (diameter of about 8 inch tree) and the chain jumped off the bar and damaged the housing over the drive sprocket. I took it to the dealer and they said it was a non-warranty item because the chain is a wearable item. The chain was essentially new and I've owned other saws and never experienced this type of issue. I was extremely happy with the performance up to this issue but now I'm concerned about using the saw again as it cost my $116 to get it fixed and I've only used it five hours!!

I read the manual before using the saw and reviewed the manual again after the incident to see if I was doing anything not advised in the manual and I did not do anything incorrectly - at least not according to the manual.

I'm hoping you support your equipment and will provide some level of remediation/credit for this issue.

Thanks for the question

Bars And Chains are considered wear items not covered past 30 days usually. The thing about a chain jumping of is could be a couple of different reasons. First after assembly run it for a few minutes and then re tighten chain. Second make sure oil is coming out to keep lubed if it is dry will wear metal against metal. Third if chain is a little loose and have some flexing when cutting sideways can cause chain to jump off. All of these unless it is a oiler problem it is not covered under warranty.
