    Question:
I'm in the market to purchase a Husqvarna Yard Tractor in the next couple Weeks. I have been to 3 local Husqvarna dealers in surrounding counties looking and asking Questions. I'm very surprised to see the lack of knowledge these dealers have about their Mowers. I think from the research I have done online, I know more than they do!! It makes me not even want to purchase a Husqvarna , almost. All I really want to know is how does a Pedal Operated Diff work and how is it different from the electric switch operated one that is on the Dash that is manually operated? And what is a automatic Diff Lock that everyone is complaining about? I think I would rather have a switch the I can determine when I need the Diff to lock in. Which Models come with the Manually switched Diff Locks mounted on the Dash.

The pedal operated version manually shifts a locking collar into spider gear assembly to lock them so both axles turn as one. This system of locking allows to lock it before it starts spinning one wheel.

The auto version uses a centrifugal locking system to lock the same spider gear assembly but one of the axle has to start spinning at a predetermined rpm over the other axle before it locks up.

As for electrically locked version it should be like the foot operated except it engage via a solenoid mounted on the transmission.

Just be aware that once the differential is locked the mower will try to go straight even when your trying to turn,

As which models has which that I don't know as I not that familiar with Husqvarna brand.

Hopefully this helps some even though I couldn't all of your questions.

Thank you for your help. I am worried that a auto lock and the pedal locking system might be a problem sometimes, meaning it may stay in longer than I need it to such as turning left or right at top of hill. Do you know if there is a way of disengaging the pedal operated?

These locks should self disengage once slippage in corrected; otherwords, they work much the same way as my JD 650 does. Once I lock the differential it unlocks itself once slippage is over and continue on a straight path. If I am turning to either side it stays locked as it see this as a slippage until I starting going straight ahead where both axle would be normally turning at the same speed.

Without personal knowledge of the electric version I don't know exactly if it is setup to unlock automatically as the other two would do.
