Tillers

I have brand new drt900 tiller. I bought it with the impression from the literature that you CAN run this in forward OR reverse. My dealer now tells me that reverse is only for things like sod and surely no stones of any size. This is impossible in Michigan and how could you never hit a stone? I only run into occasional small stones but he claims reverse can't be used like this? Any help would be great.
