i got a husqvarna 51 with a 16 inch bar and chain would i be able to go little bigger to maybe a 18 or 20 and still be safe..

Please refer to your operators manual in the technical data section to see the available lengths of bar and chain available.
The 51 can accept up to a 20" inch bar length.
Please contact your local authorized Husqvarna service center to discuss available bar and chain options, your local dealer may need to see the chainsaw as well to determine the current chain pitch so the bar and chain can be matched to the saw.
