Tommy,
Hi and thanks for using the Answer Army to post your questions.
I know you stated that you checked the pitch, but, it should be between 1/4" to 3/8" lower in the front than in the back. That is the number one problem with the belt jumping off.
The second one is: Are you starting and stopping the PTO (blade) at full throttle? If you are running the machine at anything but full throttle when you engage the blade it will cause the belt to "whiplash" and stretch. It only takes a few cycles of doing this to stretch the belt enough for it to not stay on the machine.
If the latter was the case you will need to replace the belt with a new one because once it stretches it will not go back.
I hope this helps
Greg
My belt started falling off when I engaged the parking brake in second year of service. Re-installed. fell off again when put in reverse.
Looking closer I found two tears in the thin metal used to hold rear end and tranny to axle. This allows the whole rear end to flex. I had these two spots welded. and reinforced. Machine worked for several mows then tore again. I re-welded again This time it just didn't work. I got new belt called Husquvarna and they said take it to a dealer. They gave me EAST SIDE MOWER just outside Orlando in Bithlo. I talked to Tom and explained the problem and he quickly stated that he was not a welding shop. He could fix it but he was not sure I wanted to pay that much. How much? he wouldn't say.........just drop it off. He mentioned he may have to replace several pulleys or the whole axle frame. I LEFT........ He stated that he had never heard of the same problem as described above. I stated that it was online and several people had the same problem and that's how I can to him. Anyway I got home and called him back and asked him if he wanted me to send him a link to this site. He did not. Then he told me he had only been a Husquvarna dealer for 3 months. So I guess I am on my own to fix this crappy mower. My JD is picking up the slack. It only cost 1500 and has lasted and had less issues than this 2600 mower. I AM STILL LOOKING FOR A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM PLEASE POST IF YOU FIND ONE.
