    Question:
I bought a 450e Husquvarna chainsaw. The chain became loose and while fighting it I took the casing off and could not put back on. Wouldn't fit properly. I believe it was because the brake was not in the right position. could you send me information about this.

What happen is that you remove the cover while the chain brake was tripped. These can extremely difficult to reset once you do this as now the brake band has tighten smaller than clutch drum. You need carry it into a shop that has experience on resetting these chain break assemblies.

I get several these in every year and so can not be reset due wear. Here I use a modified very pair of channel lock pliers just so I can get a spare clutch drum inside the brake band and I can remove the regular reset handle and use it to reset the chain break assembly the reset of the way. If they can't be reset this way then they either need repairing or replaced. On the 450e this is a fairly expensive part to replace just because has been removed after tripping.

      Gene,

Here is answer army link to a previously posted question, and it looks like it should work on a Model 450E, also:

Also, you may find it easier to place the chainsaw on its side when you do this, that way the clutch cover can be placed flat down on top of the bar bolts. Do not worry about the back end of the clutch cover, just focus on holding the front part of the clutch cover, and holding it snug against the brake handle engagement. With it held in place operate the brake handle and this should reset your brake band.

Remember, whenever removing the clutch cover to "always" make sure the brake is disengaged or in the reset position.

      I hope this helps

PS. I am Not a Husqvarna Representative or Authorized Repair, Just an experimental chainsaw person
