    Question:
I have a Husq. model 128LD trimmer 2010 from lowes. Got it out of the shed and fuel lines were dry rotted, Replaced them the spark plug and fuel filter. The unit starts first pull will idle and run great for about 20 to 30 mins then bogs out and dies, I have cleaned the spark arrestor, Tried running with the fuel cap all the way off, And even tried putting the old spark plug back in, When all that didn't make a difference I took the muffler all the way off, sounded cool but still died. If you let it cool down for 15 mins it will restart and run like new for another 20-30 mins. Also when it dies I have pulled the plug and its still fireing and dry. Do I have a lazy trimmer or is there something I have missed? Any help would be greatly appriciated. TY in advance

Fuel filter screen in the carburetor could be clogging up from that was sucked in through the bad lines. I have equipment run fine until the trash re-clogs the filter screen yet the clog would relieve itself until the run.

I will pull the carb off and check, but I never filled the tank and primed it before replacing the fuel lines. and if it were the screen wouldn't it do it sooner than 20-30 mins? when it dies its like someone just hit the kill switch, but will start right back up for a few seconds then die again. But I see your point, when not running the dirt or crud would fall back to the new filter in the tank and take a few to make it back up to the screen.

Just depends on how much is in there.

Ignition coils don't go back that often but normally the plug would be still be wet from where the plug wasn't firing under compression with a bad ignition problem. You did say that the plug was dry which appears to be a lack of fuel.

Ok Eugene carb has been pulled and cleaned, The only screen I could find is under the primer bulb, and had a bunch of junk on it. I also fished the new filter out and removed it, ran carb cleaner through the hose and filter. My 7 month old daughter is having a nap right now but will let you know if it helps in about 2 hrs  THANK YOU FOR YOUR FAST REPLY.

Alright I pulled carb, cleaned and replaced. Now it only wants to run at half choke, If I go no choke it dies at full throttle or idle. lol it seems the prob. got worse any suggestions?

Sound like the carburetor now needs a little tuning which can be normal once you go inside one.

And yes when you fix one thing something else always seems to crop up and can be very fustrating. When I first working on 2 cycles I would blame myself for problems showed up during repairs but finally realized it is just part of the repair precess.

Good luck on getting things straighten out.

Ok I will search for a driver that fits those odd looking screws tomorrow. And TY for all your help. Also I can pick up a diaphragm and new gaskets if I need to go to the dealer for the carb tool. Will let ya know what happens.

Hahahaha they want $32 for the tool to adjust the carbs at my nearest dealer, I asked what they would charge to adjust my carb. $32. so I look at ebay cheapest I find is $20.... I think I will try to  make my own tool from some slow heated Nylon rods and see what happens. I made a tool for my homelite trimmer like that and it works great. But on the bright side I found a dealer that has a whole new carb for $24 lol and no rebuild kit yet. Looks like I will have to try the impossible with the little 10 yr old homelite and try to get the 8-9 hrs hill trimming done...lol the husk cuts it to about 4 hrs though.

I know they are too high. When I got mine several years ago they were $4 then the EPA got involved and they shoot to over $40 and have come down some since.

Post the numbers off the carburetor and I see what you got and may can give the Zama or Walbro kit numbers. If it is one those Chinese carbs we both out of luck there. Even some of the Walbro and Zama carburetor are just as cheap as the kits now.

Its a zama carb # W4G DZA sory it took so long to get that for you. I found another shop nearby they said bring the carb to them and they can match up the rebuild kit. Will let ya know what I find out.

Hmmm, I would thought it would be something like a C1Q-W38 or W40(A). Those numbers given  don't come at Zama's website. It is was either one I mention the kit would be RB-47.

Well I took the carb to the dealership, and they couldn't get the diaphragms either. only the intake gasket, However they used the same numbers I gave you and ordered me a new carb. Also they said since I bought the carb through them, bring in the unit tomorrow when the parts arrive and they will install it and tune it for free. Sounds like a better deal than the first place I called lol, being as it will cost me $28 for a new carb and get a free adjustment on the H/L. compared to $32 just to adj. the old carb.  Thank you for all of your help, and if I have any more probs. I will get back ahold of you.

Finished my carb tool, Backed the L screw out 1/8 turn and it idled, But still died at wide open. Backed the H screw out 1/8 was a little better at least it didn't die. so from there I held it wide open and backed screw out till it screamed, then in 1/4 turn in. That's how I always adjusted my mowers and old home lite. Is that good for a Husq. or do I need to tune a little more? It seems to run as it has for the last 3 years lol. As for the new carb. that's already paid for I will put it on the shelf in my back room for now. And again TY Eugene.

You wouldn't have any ideas on how to replace the pull string on a cub cadet model 4175 4 stroke mid starter trimmer would you? My neighbor brought his over after he saw I had mine running finally. This thing is like speaking greek to me and have never messed with such a trimmer lol. I told him I would ask around, but wont touch it if I cant find a proper procedure, If it was mine I would just start taking it apart lol but don't want to destroy this mans equipment.

Now that can get a little involved as you must remove that clutch assy. just remove the starter housing so you can replace the pull rope. I would recommend getting a shop to do this one or someone that has experience in doing this.

Also the Cub Cadet would be a MTD Product and power to be here may not want discussing their equipment.
