I purchased Weed Eater Feather Lite Xtreme Curved Shaft Gas Trimmer from Wal-mart and have not been able to use it at all. The trimmer will not idle even after warming and will stall when choke is off. Can this trimmer be returned to store, or does it have to be returned to the company?

Keep in mind 2 stroke engines can be very sensitive to altitude and weather change. Some trimmers are going to require an adjustment right out of the box. Personally, I would not return and instead I would seek a Service Dealer and have them adjust the carburetor if you do not feel comfortable doing so. I can assure you that after the adjustment is completed then it will run at 100%.
