Hi Bruce,
Sorry to hear about your loss. We have no way to tell what your serial number is from an unknown or known dealer in Rochester MI or anywhere. We have only started electronically filing registrations online in the past two years. So unless it was bought recently and registered we would not have that information. We don't track individual dealer sales that information stays with the dealer. I know hindsight is 20/20 but I would put all my equipment information on a spreadsheet and keep it in a safe place should a future need arise.
Regards,
Chip
Bruce,
I know that this is a two year old post, but I thought I would comment anyways.
I had my 340 saw stolen about a week ago also. I thought I was out of luck as mine is seven years old and I did not remember if I ever registered it. So I found this place through doing a new registration. Anyways about the serial number. I found mine on the yellow registration carbon copy which I kept with the manual. (This copy also notes that the man'f keeps the white copy.) At the lower right my copy says "DATE" and below that there is a part number, which I assume is the serial number. I may be wrong, but that is what I used for a serial number when I registered.
Anyone know where the serial number is located on the saw itself?
Boy you think there would be some type of dealer database where the numbers could be accessed by a repair person and they could see if it is flagged as stolen. I'll keep searching the web. Bruce in the two years since you posted I hope you got yours back, but I know the chances are slim..
