after replacing the mower drive belt, the spacer/belt seperatorbar keeps jump out of place allowing to belt to come off. what is causing this?

Which mower, which belt retainer, and is it deck or ground drive?

LCT 2654, 54 in not sure what it is. the keeper belt ilder is bent because the belt broke. now the the belt will not stay on the pulley
