    Question:
I bought a new cutting head for my Husqvarna 125C (curved shaft), but have not been able to remove the old one. The manual states to use a wrench on the hex shaped dust shield and turn the head clockwise as you are facing it.

Simple enough. However, when turning the head, the captive nut inside of it rotates along with the stub shaft that it is threaded to. (while the hex shaped shield remains stationary)

Although there is no sign of corrosion on the threads, I allowed it to soak in penetrating oil over night and it will still not un-thread.

    Any suggestions?

I found the problem. The owners manual, as well as the instructions included with the new head are WRONG.

To remove the trimmer head, it must be turned counter-clock-wise as you are facing it.
